I.E. Canada’s 12th Annual Food Forum – April 4th and 5th

April 4 at 8:30 am - April 5 at 2:00 pm

Join us for I.E. Canada’s 12th Annual Food Forum April 4th and 5th

Courtyard by Marriott – Brampton, Ontario

The presentations at this year’s Forum will focus on the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations which will come into effect in 2018.

Under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations food importers, exporters and manufacturers will be required to have a CFIA licence to conduct business. In some instances, provincial food manufacturers will also be required to be licensed by CFIA, for the first time.

To maintain their license companies will have to implement new compliance requirements such as food safety and technical compliance control plans, product recall and consumer complaint procedures and report new and more data to CFIA upon entry of imported products into Canada. The outcome based nature of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations will completely change how your companies will be inspected by CFIA.

If this change isn’t enough, in 2017 CFIA is changing and automating how your company will obtain import and export permits for food, animal and plant products and implementing a new on-line system for companies to obtain licenses, register your establishments and pay your fees.

April 5th is dedicated to gaining an in-depth understanding of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. CFIA will explain, in detail, their interpretation and application of specific sections of the regulation, including the import and export sections. Registrants will be able to ask questions and explore with CFIA how their business will have to adjust to comply with the regulation.

During the two days, attendees will learn:

  • How Canada’s food regulations are changing and what new compliance requirements importers, exporters and domestic manufacturers must meet.
  • How the new licensing regime will work.
  • How your company can enroll in MyCFIA to obtain a CFIA Safe Food for Canadians Regulation license or import and export certificates for food, animal or plant products.
  • Changes to food import procedures and how your company will provide import data to CFIA under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulation.
  • New CFIA service fees to be charged for import, export and manufacture of food.
  • New timelines for the delivery of services provided by CFIA-how will this impact your business?
  • Inspection changes: How CFIA will inspect your products and audit your business under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulation.
