80 years the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI)
has been the national voice of American business in support of
fair and open trade among nations. AAEI's expertise in international

Pacific Economic Corporation
The
Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation or APEC is a regional organization
made up of 21 member economies. It is designed to promote co-operation
and growth as well as the liberalization and facilitation of trade
and investment within the Asia-Pacific region. Within APEC, the
Sub-Committee on Customs Procedures (SCCP) manages customs co-operation.
The SCCP reports to the Committee on Trade and Investment and takes
policy direction from the heads of customs of member economies.
These people determine the strategic direction for the customs
work of APEC.

Border Services Agency
The
Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) was created on December 12,
2003. It is part of the new portfolio of Public Safety and Emergency
Preparedness, which includes emergency preparedness, crisis management,
national security, corrections, policing, oversight, crime prevention,
as well as border services. The CBSA reports to the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness,
the Honourable Anne McLellan.
The
CBSA brings together all the major players involved in facilitating
legitimate cross-border traffic and supporting economic development
while stopping people and goods that pose a potential risk to Canada.
It integrates several key functions previously spread among three
organizations: the Customs program from the Canada Customs and
Revenue Agency, the Intelligence, Interdiction and Enforcement
program from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and the Import
Inspection at Ports of Entry program from the Canadian Food Inspection
Agency.
The
CBSA's role is to manage the nation's borders by administering
and enforcing about 75 domestic laws that govern trade and travel,
as well as international agreements and conventions.

A

On January 1st, 1998, Statistics Canada and Canada Customs and
Revenue Agency (CCRA) launched the national implementation of the
Canadian Automated Export Declaration (CAED) program. This program
gives registered exporters and agents the opportunity to report
goods electronically to the Federal Government of Canada instead
of via the paper-based reporting method.

Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native
Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA) was set up in 1988. CFNA
is a trade organization of importers, exporters and producers of
agro-products; its main function is trade promotion which covers
trade business coordination, trade information and training services,
legal affair services, trade fairs and exhibitions services, trade
dispute mediation, export quota bidding, and all other relevant
activities. CFNA has over 3000 members, which are scattered all
over Mainland China.
The
business scope covers cereals, oils, oilseeds and fats, vegetables
and fresh fruits, livestock poultry and meat, aquatic products,
beverage and canned foods, forest chemicals products, spices and
essential oils, natural native produce, feather and down, cashmere

started the website of International Agricultural Products Trade
Information (http://www.cccfna.org.cn) in July 1999. The web provides
timely and specialized information to its members.

Alert! is a unique, automated e-mail notification service that
helps subscribers stay one step ahead of changing product requirements.
Customizable by field of interest and country, users complete a
profile identifying which of the 41 subject areas and World Trade
Organization member countries they want to track. The service then
e-mails users when governments in any of the selected countries
propose changes to regulations affecting their trade interests.
Export Alert! also gives subscribers access to the complete text
of the draft regulatory measures, as well as the opportunity to
voice their concerns regarding the changes. These concerns are
taken into consideration as the regulations are finalized. Export
