ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

I.E. Canada, the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters, is the primary association that advocated on behalf of Canadian importers and exporters.

Our Trade Summit’s bring trade professionals together to better understand commerce in the shifting world of international trade. The Fall Summit attract practitioners and policymakers for the common purpose of facilitating the movement of goods safely and securely.

Attendees will discuss strategic and tactical approaches and compliance knowledge for their trade operations and business prospects with government representatives from CBSA and other government departments.   We will focus the discussion to provide attendees key information they need to know and action they need to take for 2020 and beyond.

Summit Highlights

  • Strategic overview and discussion of issues, challenges and opportunities for importers, exporters and the services providers that support them with key government officials.
  • Overview and project update of CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management).  This initiative will impact every importer in Canada and will require action.
  • Implementing Importer Financial Security for goods to be released at the border without paying prior to release.
  • Importer direct payment for duties and taxes each month.
  • Overview and project update of new export reporting systems CERS (Canadian Export Reporting System) to be implemented June 2020 replacing current process.
  • Update and pending changes to Trusted Trader Programs CSA (Customs Self Assessment) and PIP (Partners in Protection).
  • Increased CBSA verifications and ramifications for not doing it right.  How increased visibility will lead to increased responsibility and accountability.
  • eCommerce initiatives at home and abroad.

Start and End Times:

The registration desk will be open 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday November 19th, 2019.  The conference will begin at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, November 20th, 2019. The conference program will end at 4:00 PM on November 21st, 2019.  For our members, there will be an Annual General Meeting immediately after the program and anticipated to end by 5:00 PM.
